I'm sure, like me, you have collected lots of old Calendars, Diaries and Year Planners over the years, don't want to throw them out, but just can't think of a good reason for why you kept them. Well, worry not, because here it is. You no doubt realise that there are in fact only 14 different possible variations since we switched over to the Gregorian system (such a switch will probably never happen again, because we cheat a bit and periodically throw in the odd leap second to stop things from drifting off). You probably didn't sit down and work out when each calendar will come round again, but I did. The table below covers 1972 - 2030 (the avid student who wants to go that extra mile may wish to extend it in both directions as a home exercise - it ain't exactly rocket science). By studying the table (which lists the year, followed by the other years within the timeframe which match), you will see that calendars come round again in as little as 6 years, which is not an unreasonable length of time to hang on to one. Simply get a wax crayon (all they allow us in here), score out the original year and neatly print in the new one. Easy. Good for the planet, bad for the reprographic industry. What a great idea.
